*February 1, 2004: Overall renewal

TARGETS
Our research group analyzes physical distribution system by computer simulation to estimate the effects of optimization, rationalization, and future industrial situation in maritime field.
-- We contribute to improve the life of the people by supplying them and the transportation authorities with useful advanced knowledge.
-- We contribute to improve industrial competitive power by supplying shipbuilding companies, shipping companies and their customers with our analysis technologies.

RESEARCH PROJECTS
In addition to commissioned research projects by the companies and the authorities, following 6 theme are carrying out as middle range objectives.

1. Research on sea route organizing technology of foreign voyage liner
A research project about optimizing sea route of the oceanic regular lines by using GA (Genetic Algorithm).

2. Research on estimation and solution of global warming of open sea with world model of marine transportation -(1), -(2)
A research project about developing world physical distribution model of tankers, non-regular lines and regular lines to estimate global warming and to suggest its countermeasures.

3. Demand estimation and optimal shape calculation of the ferries and RORO (roll-on/roll-off) ships
A research project about estimation of future demand of the ferry and RORO ship sea route by network analysis.

4. Research on domestic transport simulation technology
A research project about developing the land and sea physical distribution simulation technology of the major sea transported articles.

5. Research on role of domestic maritime transportation in national land planning in new age
A research project about finding out effective role of domestic maritime transportation by modeling the industrial location, land utilization, and overall economy considering the globalization and the aging society.

6. Emergency transportation system which uses Rivers
A research project to investigate examples of foreign river utilization and to suggest useful domestic river utilization for emergency physical distribution.
