Research Cooperation with IOT

　　　　On January 23, 2003, the NMRI concluded a cooperative research agreement with the Institute for Ocean Technology (IOT; formerly known as IMD) located in St. John’s, Canada. The IOT is an institute under the National Research Council Canada (NRC), and as such, is a national research and development center which provides specialized technical knowledge to Canadian industries involved in marine development. Exchanges with the IOT, which boasts the world’s highest level of research in the icy water/deep sea fields, will enable more effective utilization of research resources and sharing of research results, and is expected to result in new research topics, accelerated research work, more substantial research results, and popularization of those results.
