Seakeeping Group

Abstract

This group is engaged in ship hydrodynamic problems related to the stability of ships, the seakeeping performance and the wave loads acts on a ship hull with a view to improve the performance of ships and prevent casualties at seas.
The following research is being carried out
1. Nonlinear ship motions and wave loads in heavy seas.
2. Ocean wave characteristics.
3. Stability assessment of intact and damaged ships.

Picture of a tank experiment to measure shiping water loads on the deck of container ship in large amplitude waves.
Free running model ship is used in our 80m square tank for this measurment.
