昭和54年（1979）東京大学工学部 船舶工学科 卒業（元良研究室）
昭和56年（1981）運輸省 船舶技術研究所 （海上技術安全研究所の前身）入所
昭和63年〜平成元年（1988〜89）ノルウェー工科大学 留学
平成13年（2001）博士（工学）取得
