Drag Reduction Project |
ReNew at 2000.07.07
1.Topics of The Research Group |
| This drag reduction project was started at April 1995.
Following research projects are related to the drag reduction project.
- Reduction of hydrodynamic drag of ships using CFD
(1995-2000, Ship Research Institute)
- Optimum design method of hydrodynamic shape for ship hulls by CFD [SR229]
(1995-1999, Joint project of Ship Research Institute, Shipbuilding research association of Japan, shipbuilding makers, computer software makers and univercities)
- Reduction of frictional drag of ships [SR239]
(1998-2002, Joint project of Ship Research Institute, Shipbuilding research association of Japan, shipbuilding makers, marine paint makers and univercities)
|
Macro-approach of a drag reduction is researching to
deveropment of hydrodynamic shape optimization system
for ship hulls by CFD.
Micro-approach of a drag reduction is researching to the mechanism of turbulent flow
and drag in a boundary layer around a ship hull. The drag reduction devices are
microbubbles (pdf file 289KB)
and LEBU.
