Maruo’s
Theorem
Added
resistance due to ship motion in regular waves, , is calculated by
Maruo's
theorem1) as follows:
where:
: fluid density,
: gravitational acceleration,
: ship speed,
: circular frequency of incident regular waves,
: angle between ship course and regular waves
(angle 0(deg.) is defined as the heading
wave direction),
is a function to
be determined by the distribution of singularities
which represents periodical disturbance by the ship.
