| CAD Data of the Model Wheelchair November, 2001 by Koichi Hirata and Yasuhiro Makita 
When you build a model wheelchair, you can get a lot of knowledge related the running and operating performance of a wheelchair. However, the model wheelchair, which is introduced in this web site, is not so good completed model. Its brake mechanism is not good handling, and the front castor and the one-way clutch do not have enough strength. We hope that you will build an original one with reference of the CAD data of our model. We also think that the data will be updated with our improvements. The CAD data is made with AutoCAD LT 2000 of Autodesk Inc. WHIP! allows you to distribute CAD (DWF format) files over a network without AutoCAD software. It is available for download free of charge at the web site of Autodesk, Inc. Also we prepared compressed files with ZIP and LZH format. A special software, like WinZip, is needed to decode the compressed files.
Also please note that the CAD data includes Japanese fonts and characters, they may not show correctly on your PC.

A Base-model is consists of alminum frames, front wheel casters, shafts, D/C motors, gears and others. A brake mechanism is not included. At the first, please build the base-mode with reference of belows plans. In the next step, please develop a brake mechanism or a control system for the D/C motors, if you need.
Assembling Plan of the Base Model
Follows is the brake mechanism, which was used our experiments. A R/C servomotor moves the brake mechanism. It is not so good handling, it may be no good mechanical design.
This is a doll on a scale of 1 to 3. A printed paper of the CAD was used as a paper pattern. And it was made of plywood with about 5 mm of thickness. Of cource, the doll is not affected the performance of the model wheelchair at all.
