On May 23, Suez Canal Authority officials and others visited NMRI for a tour of the seven facilities as part of the JICA technical cooperation project "Project for Enhancement of Marketing Strategy for Trade through the Suez Canal".

The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) is the Egyptian state agency responsible for the development, maintenance, and management of the Suez Canal, and JICA is currently implementing a technical cooperation project to strengthen the marketing capacity of the SCA. As part of this project, four SCA staff members visited NMRI to learn about Japanese maritime and maritime technology.

During the tour of the facility, visitors toured Actual Sea Model Basin, Ocean Engineering Basin, Large Cavitation Tunnel, Pulsating Wind Tunnel with Water Tank, Multi Axis Loading System, Deep Sea Basin, and High Pressure Tank.
